BTM Sees Increased Hosted Buyers For 2012

20 Mar 2012

Business Travel Market is expecting significant growth in the number of Hosted Buyers it will accommodate in June at ExCeL London with organisers anticipating up to 500 buyers.

With business trips up by 14% and travel expenditure up by 19% (figures released from the Great Britain Tourism Survey) it is clearly a challenge for travel managers to achieve this growth without increasing their budgets.

Paul Robin, Event Director of Business Travel Market comments, “These statistics make for very interesting reading; businesses want to keep their employees travelling but have to manage costs effectively in a difficult economic climate.”

He continues, “Business Travel Market is designed to help buyers meet these challenges just at the right time of year – prior to the RFP season –when they are deciding which suppliers offer the best solutions to meet these objectives.”

Deborah Short of Willis (Insurance brokers) added “My biggest challenge is keeping my travellers travelling without increasing my budget. Business Travel Market comes at a good time of year when I can meet the right suppliers that can help me achieve this.”

Business Travel Market has already secured stellar brands to support the 2012 event, including Qatar Airways, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Virgin Atlantic, Travelodge, Millennium Hotels and Starwood Hotels. Now, with the market entering the key booking and RFP season in the summer, organisers are expecting a further boost in numbers as a result of the show.

“Our industry is showing some really positive signs of growth and is outperforming visiting friends and relatives (VFR) trips (+7%) and holiday travel (+5%),” concludes Robin. “Business Travel Market will reflect this growth as more travel managers use our event to have meetings and confirm business.

Business Travel Market will take place on 13-14 June 2012.
